… Joined network marketing programs so that they could get a self replicated site,
or
… Bought some overpriced “Business In A Box” that was used by thousands of people and just flat out didn’t work for any of them.

It sure sounds like me, that’s for sure!
When I first started out online, I had the exact same problem.
(I know. “Problem” is a negative word. But if you’re in the same place I used to be, this simply is NOT a “challenge”. It is most definitely a PROBLEM with acapital “P”. It’s an issue that stops you dead in your tracks and keeps you from making any progress at all.)
I can’t tell you how petrified I was of putting up a simple webpage or website!
I was a MASTER at finding ways to avoid it, too!
I joined networking marketing opportunity after network marketing opportunity only because each one came with a self replicated website. That way I wouldn’t ever have to put up a real site of my own!
I remember one month where I scrimped and saved, eating macaroni and cheese and chicken pot pies until I was sick of them, just to get the $1,000 that I needed to hire someone to:
– Create a very basic opt in page where I could give away a free report,
– Tie that page to an autoresponder,
– Set up the autoresponder with the 7 letters I had already written,
– Create and set up the download page where I would advertise my other products.
Thinking back on all of it now, I can’t tell you how stupid I was!
Why couldn’t I see that all I had to do was LEARN how to do those things myself?
Besides, I was too sick to go back to school. Where would I learn everything I’d need to know?
It took me almost 7 years before I finally was willing to just bite the bullet and DO IT!
How did I learn the technical side of building a business?
Well, it’s certainly not the easiest way to learn it, that’s for sure. So, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it.
Here’s what I did …
I bought the Video Professor’s course on Microsoft Front Page, the Idiot’s Guide to Front Page and the Dummy’s Guide on the same subject.
Then, I reverse engineered every website I visited!
Each time I would stumble upon a website, I would right click on the page, hit “View Source”, copy the source into Front Page, and then play around with it until I could figure out how it all worked.
I was used to teaching myself. That’s what let me work through every possible high school math course before I got out of the eighth grade. Not many people are able to do that.
It only took me a month or so of really putting some focused effort into it before I could create my own websites from scratch!
Now, I know that I’m still no expert at the technical stuff, and I’m a far cry from what I would consider a “web designer”.
BUT — I most certainly know enough to be able to put up just about any page I need quickly and easily. If I don’t want to hire someone to do it, or if there justisn’t enough time to hire someone to do it, I can do it myself!
How did my business change once I finally beat the technical side of things?
Well, once I finally started being able to create my own web presence and modify it any time I wanted, money finally started coming in with a LOT less effort!
Unlike those years and years of trial and error where my successes were always small and limited, once I got a grasp on the technical side of the business, the sky was the limit for my profits!
And, my costs went down a TON! It literally saved me tens of thousands of dollars just in the very first year of figuring it out!
Probably the biggest difference, though, was that all kinds of opportunities and ideas started flowing. I was no longer limiting myself. Now if I could imaginean idea, I could easily implement it!
That was HUGE for me!

But this side of the business is tricky … VERY tricky in fact. You need to learn it from someone who really knows it inside out!
