It’s Time to Stop Complaining and Start Taking Action!

What the heck is going on?

I’m not sure what was going on this week, but it seems like I talked to more whiners and complainers than ever in just a few short days!

Don’t you hate it when people complain all the time?

Seriously! — it accomplishes NOTHING and makes everyone’s day miserable (even the person doing the complaining)

It makes me want to shake them until they wake up and see that the reason they’re not getting any results is because all they’re doing is complaining!

Summer before last, Jon Gordon came out with a great book called “The No Complaining Rule” that’s all about getting rid of negativity in the workplace.

One of the biggest points that he makes in the book is that you’ve got to look at things as either “Have To’s” or “Get To’s”.

Those things that you HAVE to do are very few in number. They include only dying and if you live in the US, paying taxes.

Everything else is a “Get To”. In other words everything else is a PRIVILEGE!

… You GET TO have your own business, so it’s a privilege to be able to figure out how to make it successful.

… You GET TO have kids of your own to raise, so it’s a privilege to be able to deal with their crap.

… You GET TO have a car to drive, so it’s a privilege to need gas to put into it.

When you realize that everything is a PRIVILEGE and not something that you have to do, you tend to appreciate the challenges as they come up. Read more
